Abstract

The rise of new media raises the vexing question of why it has influence in readership. In some ASEAN countries it has managed to topple the stratum of reliability and credibility of the traditional media. The article argues and underlines the situation in some ASEAN countries. Two key factors were discussed—the contradiction of information gravity between the new media as communication pluralism and the traditional media as singularism communication. Blogsphere increases the outlet in ecopocial discourse especially political information in the form of forum and public debate.

Munculnya media baru menimbulkan persoalan yang menjengkelkan mengapa ia mempunyai pengaruh dalam pembaca. Di beberapa negara ASEAN ia berjaya menjatuhkan lapisan kebolehpercayaan dan kredibiliti media tradisional. Artikel tersebut berpendapat dan menggarisbawahi keadaan di beberapa negara ASEAN. Dua faktor utama dibincangkan - percanggahan graviti maklumat antara media baru sebagai pluralisme komunikasi dan media tradisional sebagai komunikasi singularisme. Blogsphere meningkatkan saluran wacana ekoposial terutamanya maklumat politik dalam bentuk forum dan perbahasan awam.
